CE #5.2
1. What is one suggestion to easing overcrowding and both Bowie and Akins High School that doesn't require building a new school, according to Superintendent Paul Cruz?
He could create a 2nd Liberal Arts and Science Academy in an existing school to help with the overcrowding.
2. What is the big deal about Hillary Clinton's email?
She used her personal email for business instead of her government email.
3. Look at the political cartoon on Page A11 - what is the artists message, in your opinion?
I think he is saying the apple watch can do a lot of things but it cannot do all that you really want.
4. What is a micro unit?
They are smaller, more moderately priced apartment homes.
5. Who are the top 5 Big 12 "locks" for the NCAA basketball tournament according to Kevin Lyttle?
Kansas, Oklahoma, Iowa State, Baylor, and West Virginia.
Short Answer: Read the story on page A2 "School expels two students.
1. Do you think the school took appropriate action in this case? Why or Why not?
I think that school definitely took appropriate action on this case. Racism is a horrible thing that should not be apart of a college or anywhere for a matter of fact. They were chanting racist things and they deserve what they are getting because those guys should know that that is not acceptable.
2. Do you think the free speech principals outlined in the Constitution should extend to this type of behavior? Why or Why not?
No it shouldn't because it is also known that "all men are created equal" and if this free speech is saying that all men are not created equal then that goes against our country. This is unacceptable and any behavior like this is not within the range of free speech.
3. If you saw this type of action happening, would you step in and try to stop it? Why or Why not?
Yes I would because I find racism disgusting. The fact that people think they are better than others by skin color? That is not okay and I would 100% step in and stop it because if that was directed at me I would want someone to step in and try to stop it too.
4. Would you record it the behaviors and attempt to provide that information to authorities? Why or Why not?
Yes because if you don't have a video of their chant then they cannot prove this and they would get off squeaky clean. Taking a video gives proof and they definitely would have to be punished. If someone didn't video it, there is no proof to show to the authorities to catch them.
5. Should the actions of a couple of students caused the entire fraternal organization to be closed? Why or Why not?
I think so because they tarnished that fraternity's name by what they did. They gave that fraternity a bad name and no one would want to be a part of that fraternity. This also shows all the students that they are not afraid to shut down an organization over something like this.

Self-Portraits and Portraits
Tips:
Alter your Perspective
2. What is the difference between an environmental portrait and a casual portrait?
A casual portrait is just frames of certain things that people do whereas environmental captures the environment of the subject.
3. What will you need to do to get a really good self-portrait?
Have a good angle to get a portrait of yourself. There is importance in revealing something about the writer.
4. When you go take these pictures, and you will eventually turn in one of each, a portrait and a self-portrait, describe to me what you would like to do and who you would like to take a portrait of and where you might shoot these images.
I want to take a portrait of my friend and I would like to shoot images outdoorsy or them with what they really enjoy doing. in a greenery for them and for myself I want to capture a picture of myself in my room.
Alter your Perspective
- Most portraits are taken with the camera at (or around) the eye level of the subject. While this is good common sense – completely changing the angle that you shoot from can give your portrait a real WOW factor. Get up high and shoot down on your subject or get as close to the ground as you can and shoot up. Either way you’ll be seeing your subject from an angle that is bound to create interest.
Change the Format Framing
- Many photographers get stuck in a rut of only ever shooting either in ‘landscape’ (when the camera is held horizontally) or ‘portrait’ (when the camera is held vertically) modes. Look back through your images and see which one you use predominantly. Just because a vertical framing is called ‘portrait’ mode doesn’t mean you always need to use it when shooting portraits. Mix your framing up in each shoot that you do and you’ll add variety to the type of shots you take.
Environmental Portrait
I like this and picked it because you get to see their work space and it really tells you about them and what they do.
Self Portrait
I like this because it is different and innocent. I picked this because it is a different kind of self portrait you get a different angle of her and the lighting scheme adds a lot to it.
Casual Portrait
I liked this one because this is a natural family photo of what goes on in their family. I picked this because this is a freeze frame movement photo and it really displays their emotion.
