The Big Day

I have to get to her. She is the love of my life I can't let Alison go. As I drive I think of all our great times together. I have a lot of time to think because I'm stuck behind cars and getting every single red light. I cannot imagine her being happily married with that sleezy guy, Jerry.

We've known each other since we were twelve. The first time I ever saw her was when she moved in next door when we were 12. She was so pretty even at 12 years old. She is so gorgeous now and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. She is super intelligent, speaks her mind, but is gentle all at the same time.

Why can't I get one green light? I could miss the entire wedding for pete's sake!

I can't miss it she fans way too much to me. Her father even told me that he thinks I am the one she belongs with. I hope he can stall the wedding long enough until I get there. I left work in the rain just to come find her. She invited me to the wedding. It is still crumpled up in the corner where I left it when I first read the invitation. I was so upset I crumpled it up and threw it across my bedroom. Then I punched a hole in the wall. I had been meaning to fix it. I don't even want to see it if I can't be the one to stand at the alter with her.

The rain is beating down on my car. Just like my beating heart might just beat out of my chest. I have to drive faster to get to her.

After the longest time I spot the church. I slam hard down on the brakes and practically jump out of the car. It has been such a long drive but it is all worth it. I burst through the door not caring where they are in the ceremony. Alison suddenly turns her head and looks me up and down seeing my wet hair and clothes.  I can read her face and it is in sudden shock. She runs to me and smiles.

"Why didn't you call first, stranger?" she whispers in my ear as I smile. Jerry storms towards us. "I object to this marriage because I am madly in love with Alison." "So who will it be Alison? " She hesitates, grabs my hand and runs to my car. She gets in, struggling with her gorgeous white dress. I help her in and off we go. Her face is flushed and we smile at each other.

We drive away and about to cross a four way intersection. I  check both ways and start to go. A car slams into the right side of the car.

I wake up suddenly. I keep having that dream every night. The sad part is, it actually happened. I never got to marry Alison. She died before we could get her to a hospital. The only love of my life, died the day we were going to be together.
