Huntington Post: Story 1

Who- Janice Jones and Tammy Rye
What- Jones was shot in the leg
When- 10 p.m. on Wednesday
Where- back of her motor home on Beach Boulevard near Highway 1 in Barstow California
Why- The dog knocked her gun off on accident.

How- Her dog knocked the gun of the sear.

On Wednesday at 10 P.M, at her motor home on Beach Boulevard near Highway 1 in Barstow, California when Janice Jones was eating pork chops when she was accidentally shot in the leg due to her dog.

Her dog had knocked the handgun off a sear and discharged causing the gun to shoot through her leg.

“It could have been worse,” “The bullet hit two inches from the gas tank,” California Highway Patrol, Tammy Rye said.

Tammy was taken to the hospital after Rye found out about the accident that happened.

“Jones was indeed treated at our hospital but we cannot say more than that,” Huntington Beach Hospital spokesperson, Jim Washington said.

She was transported by ambulance to Huntington Beach Hospital and later to Irvine Medical Center.

“It could have done with a little less abuse and a few more of those pork chops,” animal control officer, Janet Ngo said.

Tombo, Jones’ Pomeranian seemed to be malnourished, fresh cigarette burns on its forehead and the animal control office is going to explore filing animal abuse charges against Jones.

“Jones has expired plates on her car and Jones also does not have a permit for the gun,” California Highway Patrol, Tammy Rye said.

The county district attorney’s office is considering if they can charge her for the gun accident because she does not have a permit for the gun.
